The 2007 ICANN Nominating Committee is currently inviting Statements of Interest from the Internet community for the following positions:
- Three members of the ICANN Board of Directors
- Two members of the Council of the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO)
- One member of the Council of the Country-Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO)
- Three members of the At Large Advisory Committee (ALAC)

Thanks for your comment. The Communications team is looking into this as part of improving ICANN’s multilingual efforts. I’m not sure on the details, but perhaps it is something they are considering. Please continue to follow developments on the blog and the ICANN homepage.

El equipo de Comunicaciones en ICANN está trabajando intensamente en el tema de las traducciones. Pero hay muchos temas que debemos considerar. Las traducciones deben ser precisas, consistentes y comprensivas. Luego está el tema de cuáles son los idiomas que se deben traducir, especialmente cuando contamos con recursos limitados. Pero por favor, toma en cuenta que tenemos este tema como una prioridad. Kieren McCarthy, nuestro nuevo Director General para la Participación Pública (General Manager Public Participation) está trabajando en esto.

The Communications team at ICANN is thinking hards about this. But there are many issues to consider. Translation needs to be accurate, consistent and comprehensive. Then there are issues about what languages you translate especially when you have limited resources. But know that we have this as a priority. Kieren McCarthy our new General Manager Public Participation is working on this.

Looks great, and it looks like ICANN has some significant growth in the future. Still, there is more growth that is obviously needed – especially when it comes to multi-lingual operations, and looking at sustainable, competitive and secure internet all across the world. Not just with English sites. I think a great deal of us westerners only know the internet in English – we’re not aware of the large part that is in other languages. Starting with Europe is, of course, the best place to start. But don’t forget the far east, and of course… Africa.
