ICANN should ask the local telco’s to allow easier registration of domain names inorder to encorage growth in online businesses in the Gulf.

We were very pleased seeing this meeting succeed in joining forces from many stakeholders in the Arab region. We will be happy to see more other people from countries been more involved in participating in the ICANN bottom-up process.
Arabic script working group work result was one of the success stories of this meeting. And the IDN was one most discussed issue as its importance for the Arabic user.

I think the meeting was a very successful one .. Regional meetings bring together people of common interests and focus on topics of interest to a specific region which turns to be very productive ..
As a topic of great interest to this region, IDN discussions were very useful and very interactive .. Presentations on ICANN gTLD registries and accredited registrars were very informative as the topic is still pre-mature in this part of the world ..
I fully support the idea of regional meetings .. It serves as a great means for outreach and a practical way to involve people who are not able to join the global meetings and get them onboard ..

شهدت اجتماعات الايكان نقاشات مفيدة وجدية فيما يتعلق بتطبيق اللغة العربية علي مستوي نطاقات الانترنت العليا ، وقد كان واضحنا ان الحلول التقنية متوفرة ولكن هنالك قضايا متعلقة بالقواعد اللغوية اضافة الي سياسات واجراءات التسجيل لهذه النطاقات

لقد كان الاجتماع ناجحا بكافة المقايسس والشكر للاخ باهرعصمت ممثل الايكان في الشرق الاوسط للتنظيم والمتابعة

شهد اليوم الأخير للاجتماع عروض ومناقشات من قبل شركات تسجيل أسماء النطاقات العامة المعتمدة من قبل الأيكان (ICANN Accredited Registrars) وكذلك أصحاب السجلات العامة (gTLD Registries) حول نماذج الأعمال المختلفة لتسجيل أسماء النطاقات وكذلك الفرص والتحديات في هذا المجال. وكانت الجلسة الأخيرة للاجتماع مخصصة لأسماء النطاقات العليا الجديدة حيث عرض الأيكان ما انتهت إليه عملية تطوير السياسة في هذا الموضوع وكذلك ما يقوم به موظفو أيكان حاليا فيما يتعلق بالخطة التنفيذية لتطبيق أسماء النطاقات العليا الجديدة.

شهد اليومين الأولين للاجتماع العديد من التعليقات والمناقشات المهمة والمفيدة حول أمور مختلفة كالمشاركة في الأيكان والاتفاقية الثنائية مع الحكومة الأمريكية و الترجمة العربية للمعلومات والمستندات التي ينشرها الأيكان وأسماء النطاقات الدولية (IDNs) وعملية أسماء النطاقات العامة الجديدة (new gTLDs) . وكما هو متوقع كان موضوع أسماء النطاقات الدولية وعلاقتها بالمحارف العربية (Arabic script) هو الأكثر سخونة والأكثر إثارة للمناقشات الجادة والهادفة.

اليوم الثاني للاجتماع مازال مستمرا وجاري النقاش حول المسار السريع لتطبيق أسماء النطاقات الدولية لرموز الدول (fast track) من خلال مناقشة التقرير المبدئي لمجموعة العمل في هذا الشأن.
