We are seeking volunteers who are enthusiastic about the Internet to serve on ICANN’s Board of Directors, Generic Names Supporting Organization, At-Large Advisory Committee and the Country Code Names Supporting Organization. Interested candidates can apply by submitting a statement of interest to NomCom online at http://nomcom.icann.org by 1 May 2013.

We’re looking to fill a total of nine positions – four for three-year terms and five for two-year terms, all beginning at ICANN’s Annual Meeting in November 2013. Individuals selected by the NomCom will provide a valuable public service towards the function of the Internet while working with accomplished colleagues from around the globe.

If it’s not the right time or opportunity for you to apply, but you know someone who would be a good fit, you can recommend candidates through an email to nomcom2013@icann.org.

We closed the application process on 4 April 2011 and received 88 Statements of Interest. 14 candidates from Europe, 24 from Asia/Pacific, 15 from Latin America, 16 from North America, and 19 from Africa. 23 candidates are female, 65 are male. This is a record number of female candidates, and shows that our focus on female candidate recruitment this year was successful.

Candidates have expressed primary interest in serving as follows: 41 on the ICANN Board, 13 on the GNSO Council, 11 on the ccNSO Council, and 23 on the ALAC. Many candidates have asked to be considered for more than one position.

Since the deadline the NomCom has undertaken the following activities:

  • Reference checking
  • Candidate "deep diving" (finding more information about the person)
  • Candidate preliminary interviews
  • Preliminary evaluation of candidates

We have been holding regular teleconferences, with the frequency increasing as we get closer to our final deadline for candidate selection.

So far, we’ve thoroughly examined the candidates for the Board positions, and are well into our analysis of the candidates for the ALAC, GNSO and ccNSO.

After the final selection by the NomCom in late June 2011, the selected candidates will be subject to a due diligence process that will be undertaken by an external firm.

We remain committed to the utmost confidentiality with regard to the candidates who have submitted themselves for service to ICANN, and according to the ATRT recommendations, we are striving for the utmost transparency with regard to process. It is a difficult balancing act, but we are doing the best that we can.

Idem pour le compte final de l’an dernier qui faisait état de 4 candidates sur un total de candidats de 82.

Pourquoi si peu de femmes se portent candidates ? Nous savons que la communauté compte des femmes exceptionnelles, et je suis certaine que vous connaissez tous d’autres femmes qui seraient également d’excellentes directrices pour l’ICANN. Nous vous demandons de nous les suggérer.

La redoutable Karla Valente a organisé avec Annalisa Roger une réunion Femmes DNS sponsorisée par Nominet un peu plus tôt cette semaine lors de la 40ème réunion à San Francisco. Vanda Scartezini a exhorté les 50 femmes présentes à considérer une éventuelle candidature via le NomCom. J’ai moi même abordé de nombreuses personnes à San Francisco, y compris des collègues femmes, et j’ai aussi entendu des rumeurs comme quoi beaucoup d’autres femmes ont l’intention de se porter candidates.

Les femmes souhaitant se porter candidates aux postes de direction cette année doivent savoir quelles sont les places disponibles :

  • Conseil du GNSO, 2 sièges
  • Conseil du ccNSO, 1 siège
  • Conseil consultatif At-Large, 3 sièges : un pour l’Afrique, un pour Asie/Australie/Pacifique et un pour Amérique latine/Caraïbes
  • Conseil d’administration, 2 sièges

Hasta hace una semana, NINGUNA MUJER se había postulado mediante la NomCom 2011 para un cargo de liderazgo en ICANN. Ahora nos complacemos en anunciar que dos mujeres se han postulado. Son solamente 2 entre 40, de modo que siguen siendo muy pocas. Se parece a la votación final del año pasado de 4 mujeres postulantes de un total de 82.

Теперь мы с удовлетворением можем сказать, что сразу две женщины подали заявки. Две заявки из сорока — соотношение по-прежнему неравное. Примерно как по итогам прошлого года: 4 женщины на 82 кандидата.

Почему так мало заявок от женщин? Мы знаем, что в сообществе есть прекрасные женщины. Убеждена, вы все знаете женщин, которые могли бы стать превосходными руководителями в ICANN. Пожалуйста, предлагайте их кандидатуры.
